With the election outcomes largely determined, we are entering a new chapter of governance at both the federal and state levels. A new administration, legislature, and several new governors and state representatives will soon take office. In light of these transitions, MPPI wishes to connect with our Montessori policy and advocacy community.
The past months have been marked by political upheaval and historic moments—some deeply inspiring, others profoundly challenging. Around the world and here at home, children continue to experience trauma caused by poverty, conflict, and systemic neglect in policy and budget decisions. These challenges, compounded by the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, demand our urgent attention.
As always, we remain confident that the Montessori community will persevere, steadfast in its mission to provide an exceptional educational experience for every child and family. At MPPI, our commitment to this mission remains unwavering. We will continue to champion policies that center children, families, teachers, and schools within the Montessori community.

As the national voice for Montessori policy advocacy, we understand the importance of building and maintaining relationships with policymakers, especially during periods of transition. Our work in amplifying the Montessori perspective is more critical than ever, and we are here to support state advocacy leaders and organizations in navigating these changes. Together, we will ensure that the needs of children and families remain at the forefront of policy conversations.
Advocacy in Action
We encourage you to take immediate action on an important issue: Early Childhood Education (ECE) funding. Currently, the Senate has proposed a $2.3 billion increase, while the House has suggested a $3.7 billion decrease. While these proposals may evolve with the new administration, now is the time to make your voice heard.
