Imagine a classroom uniquely designed to build confidence, inspire independence, and foster a love of learning. Imagine a teacher equipped to individualize instruction so each child receives what they need to learn and grow cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. Imagine a child who is not only proficient in math and reading, but who is prepared for a 21st century world that requires collaboration, focus, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Imagine Montessori education.
MPPI and Montessori Science at UVA are proud to announce our recently co-published literature reviews, What We Know About What We Do: The Evidence Behind Montessori Practice. This collaboration came from the experiences of MPPI and our advocates, and specifically the intersection of advocacy work and research supporting Montessori that Dr. Corey Borgman engages in at UVA and the Virginia Montessori Association. They are intended to be used in advocacy work for policy change supporting fully implemented Montessori programs in all levels and types of schools. These papers can be used individually or as a group, and outline and align research coming from non-Montessori as well as Montessori sources including embedded understanding of our pedagogy.
